Zero. Never done coding practice for interviews and never will. Work isn't highschool and interview isn't a final exam.

You might have noticed that you're firmly in the minority.

I prep by thinking about projects I have done in the past. I'm senior in a specialized domain, so most of the interviews will be system design or domain specific. For the 1 or 2 algo ones, I just focus on explaining my thought process as I try to find a solution.

You are like that kid who excels in academics and all other kids want to beat him up.

Have you done any interview processes other than Google’s?

Yes. I am not recommending you don't you leetcode, unfortunately most companies, including Google, ask these type of questions, which in my opinion are completely useless in evaluating a candidate (with the exception of new grads). I also interview at Google but I don't think leetcoding is helpful in solving the type of questions I ask.

About 10-20. You don’t really need to solve that many problems, just have to understand the general pattern and different question categories.

No practice for when I joined google out of school. Admittedly internship interview isn’t hard.
No practice for Microsoft and amazon though. I feel like the hardest part is actually understanding what’s being asked. Once you get that far, the code is easy

Do you struggle more with the code than what’s being asked?

Isn’t it our job to be good with code?

Well, in my first couple of interviews, they asked questions about things that I never dealt with and want at all in our school's curriculum. Then I had to surf the web for the full suite of question types and do dozens of mock interviews.

I prefer Hackerrank - develops your problem solving skills better and is much more interesting/challenging. Solved <100 Hackerrank problems and <10 Leetcode (just to see what it is).

Zero, there was no Leetcode back then.

Didn’t count them, but did almost 400 over 6 months and got offers from Airbnb Uber and Google. Rejected from 3 others. In hindsight I wish I had done the same (or a bit lower) amount of problems over fewer months.

Did all of them when there were about 600 questions...
