I've joined a tech subsidiary of a real-estate company (the likes of realtor.com, zillow, opendoor; but real-estate based, not tech based) in Austin as a Product Manager. I am the only tech guy here, everyone else is a real-estate person and has no clue about tech. I am only 2 months in but am trying to find out how much bonus do Product Managers generally get in a decent (non-FAANG) tech company, so I could negotiate accordingly when the time comes. Currently my base is $140K, which is also my TC (there is no other component). Total WEX is 10 years, software engineering background and working in product for around 4 years. It'd help if you also let me know the city while quoting numbers - bay area and Seattle salaries are considerably inflated than the rest of the country it seems, due to the high cost of living. Thanks a lot for reading everyone!
If you didn't negotiate your bonus up front you'd better have some leverage. Keller Williams?
Yeah, a sister company. I didn’t negotiate because they offered me a base almost $20K over my expectations. They also said they are just forming the company and don’t have any other components in place yet. However I believe I might have some leverage as making software is the primary business of the company, which I do for them. Everyone else in the company would use what I build.
Sidetrack but how is your experience there? Pretty chilled? I'm thinking about joining such a company.
You can take the bay and seattle salaries and adjust for CoL
