Progressives/Leftists: what’s your ideal political party

Leaving aside all the debates about how the left should vote in specific elections (harm reduction/anybody but Trump/etc) in the abstract, what do you think an ideal left-wing political party should look like? I’m assuming here that most progressives and maybe the majority of leftists vote for Democratic candidates - but have major criticisms of the Democrats (if this assumption is wrong in your case, please explain below.) [Background: Just to clarify where i’m coming from, I do not vote for Democrats because i believe that the DNC is a barrier to left politics in the US. But I also understand the reasoning of leftists who do vote for them on a “harm reduction” basis... i just believe that a longer-term strategy is needed or else the left will always end up supporting moderates we don’t agree with just the limited aim of stopping the current Fox News fueled gargoyle-candidate.]
