Quit job before finding new one

So I quit my job, nothing lined up aside from interviews. Reckless I know, but with good reason. Anyway how transparent should I be about it when interviewing? I haven’t brought it up yet, but don’t think that’s a good idea. Hasn’t been asked, not on resume. This is recent, last day was this last Wednesday. Previous TC 130 Los Angeles

Let's hear the good reason so we can explain to you why it's not a good reason.

Was not well thought out, so cut me some slack. I want to know how to handle it moving forward. I know how to talk so explaining isn’t the hard part. Just the when and how I should bring it up/handle it. I’m owning it. In short Very unhappy and unhealthy. Toxic engineering culture. Company values did not align with mine. Profit over product. Better to be fully vested in a new company than half ass either work or pursuit. Essentially I got burned out and couldn’t do it anymore. And only way I saw fit was to rip off the bandaid

Plus my wife was very encouraging

You can say: 1. A new organization in place force me to move XYZ city or change role, which I didn't want to. 2. I was not growing anymore and few opportunities to develop myself. I am looking to be challenged intellectually every day.

Should I update the end date on my resume and be upfront to the recruiter?

Microsoft SoHw57 May 26, 2019

On your resume, just put May 2019 as your end date. They could either interpret that as you're still working (present) or it ended sometime this month. Only bring it up if they ask or needed more clarification.

Don’t mention it until you’re about 2 months from your end date. That means you need to get a job ASAP. Since you don’t have any paperworks to deal with (visa crap) no one will see any difference.

A good reference from a leader at previous co and givng an ~honest answer to new hiring lead that you were looking for new challenge w closer matching culture and you wont have any issues. Cater culture comment to something you know hiring co likes about their culture.

I wouldn't mention it.

How are you handling health insurance for you & family without a job?

true[x] aduq May 26, 2019

don’t mention it. it puts you at a disadvantage in negotiating a new offer, unless you have multiple offers.
