Albertsons is Tier 0. You interview at FANG only after you get rejected there.

But they do look for contracting jobs at Netflix though

Few people make that kind of impact in your life. The other one was that Indeed recruiter.

    MSFT > LinkedIn > Google > Apple.

I’d work at no other company on your list.

@ImposterX Why this ranking? Can't tell if you're actually serious

I imagine it’s a combination of working conditions, work-like balance, benefits, and TC. Where TC is ranked lower than the first 3 (because MS is first).

      Dead serious.

Microsoft is a dream since childhood. Under Nadella it’s actually again a very exciting place. LinkedIn is a great brand and of strategic for MSFT. I heard good things of people working there.

Google or Apple, hard to say. I think there’s personally more room for me at Google, and I know people there who value the company and the compensation. I value Apple for their take on privacy, but they’re on the software side not that earth shattering.

And as I stated before, that about it. Not interested in the Ubers or Amazons of this world. Netflix is just not interesting from a company mission. Pay is great, but I’m not sexy enough to work there and they’re not sexy enough for me. Swipe.

And yes, TC is not everything .

These companies all seem best from a TC/WLB standpoint, except Apple. Apparently WLB is quite good at Uber these days, too. Probably more so than Apple. I'd put Airbnb in this list as well. Possibly also Stripe, Slack, Twitter, Square and a few others, but I don't know about their WLB

Stripe, Square and Twitter weren’t mentioned and I’d put them on the list, too. In fact, if Square would be on the list, then I’d likely rank them very high.

I’m not a friend of Uber’s business model and AirBnB is just not interesting enough with its mission for me.

The stress and cut-throat performance evaluation system at Amazon are not worth it, not to mention the lower compensation compared to other companies.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but Amazon is super cheap with its employees. If you travel overseas (to China or India), they make you fly coach. What the heck- that's like a 12 hour flight.

    • Amazon PT Cruiser
You’re right on all those points. I think it’s due to the sheer amount of employees Amazon hires. While G, FB pay more, they hire much less SDEs than Amazon.

My old place allowed business class for any flights over 8 hours, but I think Amazon would be bankrupt if they allowed that.

  • Microsoft <!>
I would rank Facebook a bit lower due to WLB, privacy, fake news, and business scope. In terms of business scope (which is related to your career growth), several other companies also kind of relatively narrow, like Uber, Lyft, Airbnb, and Dropbox. Apple has a higher % of HW business, which usually has lower profit margin (and I’m not a HW person too)

So here is my ranking: Google > Microsoft/LinkedIn > Facebook > Amazon > Apple
