I got a pretty solid raise at my company about 2 months ago, but even when getting the raise my boss new I was pretty restless in my current job and city I’m in. I got a solid offer from a company in Denver (where I want to be) and I’m going to take it. Is that just an asshole move on my part?
No
No. You own you. Your life, family and your happiness. You don’t owe anybody anything. You earned the raise. Done bam! Only bummer is your money could have done to somebody else. But stay or go that doesn’t change.
Nope, do what is right for you because at the end of the day, your employer will never have your best interest in mind.
Fuck em. It wasn't enough.
Nope, I've done the same thing OP. You don't owe anyone anything, it's your life. You earned that raise from the hardwork you did. It's not like your employer lost anything by giving you a raise so there is nothing to feel bad about!
Let’s be honest. It is an asshole move. Manager must have fought for you. Now he will have to hire and train a new person. As a manager it hurts when someone can’t be grateful for even 6 damn months.
No, just help your boss find a replacement and leave on excellent terms.
It's fine. You never get a raise because of future promise, you get the raise because of what you've done. So you won it, and you don't owe them shit
No. It does suck as the manager, but if a company can't give you what you want and someone else can (location, role, compensation) you can't fault the employee for leaving. Handle it maturely and gracefully - give as much notice as possible, develop a transition plan, work to make sure everything is wrapped up neatly, don't flip everyone the bird on your way out and you will be fine.
Nope, it is not.
