I am working in Virginia for around 95k TC in a super comfortable company and as far as I have heard, the company I am working for does not layoff even in recession. I just got a SDE2 offer of 230k TC in Seattle. I am also on H1B. But how should I look at the upcoming probable recession. Seems like there is a good chance of recession in the second half of 2020. How does Amazon handle recession? What do you think? Any suggestions? Thanks!
Accept the Amazon offer. You can't plan for something so unpredictable.
yeah you are right
Even recession is not there, Amazon lays off bottom people every year. But with your salary difference you should not even think about staying in your company. Come to Seattle
Hopefully I will not be on the bottom. Yes, the difference is too good to reject
Nothing is recession proof. That being said, companies often invest in automation when they need to tighten their belt. So for the next recession, the cloud is positioned well.
Which service in aws? Depends on a lot of factors but if you are working on something mission critical you should not worry
Probably not mission critical, Kinesis Analytics
If recession hits hard, you probably have better chances in Amazon than your current company.
With them moving to Virginia with HQ2 - I am surprised they don’t let you stay put.
