Recession outlook?
Every day that passes by there's always a damning news about the economy. What do y'all think about what's going on? What's your perspective on this? We've had overall upwards pattern thus far for the last few years; I feel like we are overdue for the 8 to 14 year downturn cycle. My money is in on economic downturn.
My 401K still shows gains for the year, so I’m not worried.

I have no idea. I just selected the Fidelity Standard option. I don’t even know what my portfolio looks like. But I have made money this year!
You’re not going to be able to predict it - you can take a defensive stance if it’ll help you sleep better at night but if you’ve got a lot of years to retirement leave that shit in VTI or SPY and just hold on. Make sure you’ve got enough cash to survive a few months if the worst occurs and you’ll be fine

They are stock tickers. VTI is the vanguard US total stock market ETF. SPY is the standard SP500 ETF. Your portfolio should be mostly ETFs - do a little research on Vanguard it’s the real deal

I won't comment on the presidency but the tariffs and his unstable policies aren't helping the volatility for sure.

Many economic indicators aren't though. I get latest analyst news and I have access to many other databases not available for public for my job and it's not a happy picture. Yes, everyone would be worried regardless of D or R but it's a pattern with R presidency rather than the other way around.
I read recently that there is a 30 percent likelihood of a recession. Let's just say it's not set in stone. I would save a good amount, but just keep living life. I think the MSM want a recession to harm Trump in 2020
MSM will go for anything that destroys Trump. They would rather burn the place down to bring him down

We’ve been “on the verge” of a recession every year since 2010. Only thing that changes is the supposed reasons it’s about to happen.
No point in worrying about something you can't control. You should always manage your finances like one is coming.
