Recreational cannabis users: how does getting high affect your programming skills or behavior?

I'm a regular cannabis user, maybe 2 or 3 times a day in small doses. I've got 5+ years of experience, mostly outside of MSFT. I'm a slow thinker (long before cannabis) because I like to take my time understanding problems and coming up with a good solution (not perfect) but one that does the job correctly in a clear way. This is usually beneficial to me when programming high because I enjoy more focus and reward. How does it affect your skills?

I smoke to be "less autistic" and more like normal people. My favorite thing to do is get really high in the morning (sativa), with a lot of coffee, and hack against an API. 2 major side projects (Enkida and Arkdata), as well as a natural language-to-Powershell transpiler of sorts, and a 5000-line Powershell module have been born of this, including an effective 100-line rewrite of Logstash. OP, are you an Indica or Sativa smoker, or one of us "Indica by night, Sativa by day" smokers?

That's incredibly rad!! My side project is a super part time MSCS. Lectures and homework in the evenings and for the same reasons I like to be a little high for these to pay attention and appreciate various technical aspects to perform my best.

The smoke has rotten your mind if you think that a powershell script is something to be proud

Cannabis turns me into a complete dotard which is a shame because I enjoy it. I use it pretty rarely.

"Dotard" 😂😂😂

I can't do it while working because I just want to go do something fun or play video games. But I like to think about solutions to problems while I'm high, just not actually do any real work.

Why are we getting all formal with the name? Remember when we weren't all bearded yuppies and called it weed? "I dare say, good sir, would you have a spot of Cannabis?" 😂

I like calling it cannabis because its been less demonized like weed and pot.

Sometimes it helps with stress, sometimes makes it worse. Used to be a daily smoker, now it's more occasional. When I worked freelance from home I would pretty much stay high. I got my work done, but in retrospect I may have been more motivated to take on more if I hadn't.

I used to smoke a lot, it helped me learn what I know now but primarily because I have ADHD and it focused me. Not sure if I'd recommend to casual users. It does help with repetitive tasks though in general.

out of curiosity, was there a particular strain or type that you found helpful for adhd?

Blizzard weebtrash Sep 22, 2017

I used to live outside of cali, there was no such thing as a strain where I was. That said after I moved here much later I became partial to hybrids or sativa, green dream was nice.
