So i have an offer outstanding from company #1 & had another on-site today at company #2. Recruiter from #2 emails me this evening and asks for the specific company that i have an offer from????? It feels uncomfortable to answer the specific company name. I guess looking for advice on how to handle. As of now planning on saying “i am not comfortable disclosing the specific name” what should i do? will this affect my offer potential from company #2 YOE 2 TC 140K
i dont think knowing where else u r interviewing gives them much leverage during negotiations. you can go either way.
The reason he/she is asking tells that it’s a valuable information. So, just give some bs answer like will tell you later etc
They’re asking because they’re willing to pay more to keep good talent out of their competitors hands. Don’t overthink it.
There is no value in hiding that. Being transparent build relationships with the recruiter. And if the other campany is strong, they will up the game and offer.
i’m worries about this affecting offer #1
It is important info for them as offers from different companies have different values. E.g. if you have an offer from Albertsons - then other recruiters must really try hard to come up with their best offers to compete! It's not like having an offer from Google where people usually don't care and they can just match it easily.
Thats a good plan. He only needs to know the TC. The less irrelevant information you give them the better or you will have to hear stupid talking like we have a better stack companyB or what have you
