Recruiter vs. Hiring Manager
Hiring manager keeps saying the offer can go higher but when I made a counter offer to the recruiter they told they couldn’t move up at all. Are they trying to play me hot and cold or is there a disconnect here? Do people discuss numbers directly with the hiring manager?

They might be trying to be fair to the engineers inside tge company. I wish that was like that everywhere so new comers are not paid more than more experienced people. Good luck.

I tried asking hiring manager for salary range he pointed me to recruiter. I guess it depends on how bad the manager wants you and if they are willing to fight for you

Email the hiring manager directly. Say the recruiter isn't budging but you want to work for them blah blah blah make the TC higher.
