Recruiters 101

Like most, I get contacted by recruiters all the time. Got an email today that sounds like a good pitch (5-10% of year salary)... but I honestly have no idea what’s normal. Are they ever worth working with? What is the right business model, or how, at a high-level, do you decide to move forward with one? I need a 101 please. SWE, 3 YOE, $150k TC, SF (current) or NYC

SWE? YOE? Current TC? Current location? New location? Without answering to these questions you will not get any useful information

Right, also how do you like your current role? I have no rights to give you advice but I explane you my vision. I like my current company and the role. I feel that I'm most dummy person in the team so I'm absorbing a lot and improving my skill. I'm getting more than enough for comfortable life in DFW area. So I will change my position only if I get 50%+ offer. Also I don't know anyone from my colleagues who moved less than for 20%
