Is it just me, or do companies in Austin, TX treat every potential candidate like they don’t exist? I’ve never had so many companies be so silent. I know for a fact, senior PM friend here in Austin has experienced the same thing. He had a recent interview, out of state! I I have had one person reply to me, out of state!
This is coming from someone with big client experience in design, solid resume and portfolio. Maybe it’s not just Austin, is this how things are now with most companies in tech unless you are buds with someone on the inside? Or maybe I just need to throw more applications out there, and be aggressive about it. 🤔😤
- Micro Focus / EngYeezus2That’s because Austin doesn’t want any more techies migrating and fucking up their housing prices. I recently visited and that’s an extremely open hostility against Bay Area/Seattle/NYC folks.
- Actually I lived on west coast for over ten years.. but grew up here in Texas. I have had these jobs and connections in Austin since moving back. But I do wonder if people still look at my resume and think they don’t want to bother because of that.. I can’t imagine someone would be thinking that though. Or would they? 😕
- New / DataTBjF30My experience has primarily been the radio silence or the recruiters that call me at their leisure without setting up a meeting beforehand (as if I don’t have a job or meetings during the work day). Every once in a while though there have been companies that contact me seriously. So I guess it’s just a numbers game like anywhere else; just keep applying!
