Ok, so obviously going to Europe/Asia etc from the US requires a red eye flight. But, would you take an LA to NY red eye as part of regular travel?
Previous job commuted Boston to SF for 3 years 40 weeks a year half of them red eyes. Do what you have to do. You get used to it. All economy plus.
I take the red eye SEA to JFK a few times a year, unfortunately I can't sleep even in business class, but a quick cat nap, shower and I'm in the office by 2pm so I figure it's worth it.
Would rather do more LC
All my flights are red eye flights, if you know what I mean. Makes them go real fast.

Red eye can be fine in biz class - you get 4.5h of sleep which is acceptable. Never in economy.
True, but usually a domestic red eye doesn’t have lie flat seats. I’m not sure biz class reclined is that much better than economy..?
Most airlines have lie flat on domestic transcon flights now. JetBlue is generally most reasonably priced - often only $600 one way upgrade if you book in advance.
