Their office is a dump. I once had to go interview at a building in a seedy place. There was no one except the CEO and an eng. And the room was windowless. out of all red flags, thats a big NO to me. The CEO kept saying they are moving to a nicer place, they closed a funding round last week. And they are kicking ass with paying customers. Literally he was putting me to sleep. No charisma, no personality.

Can’t answer how long is their runway. If their designer is shit.

Salesforce OHANA_GANG Aug 29, 2019

Literal red flags, like a fuckload of them, all over the office I mean seriously, can you think of a single successful tech company other than Netflix with a red logo?

Oracle. Blind.

Salesforce OHANA_GANG Aug 29, 2019

In mythology oracles are frequently blind, yes Not sure what that has to do with red flags though

Most of that sounds fine but even well-managed startups aren't going to show their cap table to every prospective candidate

1. Why would a user pay you, over competitor X? Or what do you offer that others don't? is met with nobody else offers this service, their service "sucks", their service doesn't work, because we know what we are doing and they are not, we got the best talent and we love working hard, trust me we've done this before, we get talent from MIT and Stanford, and other such flimsyass answers. 2. No clear answer to "What are use cases where your product will NOT work" 3. Tell me about a time when a customer churned, explain why, and what did you do?

What are some of your better answers

Microsoft UMbR31 Aug 29, 2019

What do you mean? They should give you real answers.

First thing they want to discuss is comp - it's well under market and there's a non - technical founder that thinks you should work at a discount on their awesome idea.

Cisco 7oclock Aug 29, 2019

The fact that it's a startup is inherently several red flags knit together to form a big red flag blanket Most startups are terrible, unstable places to work
