Looking to work at one of the Big 3 consulting firms as an engineer (not management). I submitted my resume to McKinsey but I have no faith that anyone will see my resume. Can anyone refer me? Can't find BCG in the tags so added delloite. Any other consulting firms worth my time?
Stfu OP. Sit at Microsoft, or atleast target some other Product Company. Why these consulting firms? You won't become a General Partner as an Engineer, if you're thinking that.
I sincerely hope this is a troll post.
No why?
Looking forward to an AMA in 2 years after you are in and out and realize how consulting agencies work
Lol I do not have rose-colored glasses and I read the constant stream of complaints on /r/consulting. But it's not like enterprise software development at an ancient company doesn't come with its own share of problems. Reading my previous comments, are any of my justifications for moving into consulting invalid?
Thought big 3 was MBB....Deloitte is ok too
Ya I explain second paragraph of post
Oh missed that
Do you just want to have a more glorious looking career? Like House of Lies style? I wouldn’t blame you lol
As ex DELOITTE, I would not recommend working in consulting. The work has no meaning and your life revolves around the client.
What work has meaning? I find no meaning in enterprise SaaS. Having to talk to a client all the time seems better than being locked in a windowless room for 8hrs a day
As a current employee of Deloitte ...several years in consulting...I enjoyed the all travel lifestyle for long... I would be worried if you are ready for the grind that comes with firms like Deloitte..grass is not as green bro !
Bain does not have that type of specialist position
Grass is always GREENER on the other side. I’ve been at Deloitte 10 years and looking to get into a tech company.
@OP Why are you interested in working for consulting firms while you already work for a great product company like Microsoft?
* I like to travel, even if to nowhere interesting (though I know travel is less common for IC engineers) * I like to work on more projects, rather than deeply entrenched iteration on a small area of a product * I want to work more with people and share my knowledge * my specific experience seems more ideal for consulting
