Hello, I want to apply for a Scrum Master job with PayPal, but I'd prefer to do it via a referral if possible. Is there anyone willing to send me a referral link? I am very familiar with Scrum framework and would love to work in an environment where I can get more practice and sharpen my skills. Thank you!
Could you please tell us how you got into this field? What kind of education you need, and is it a good field to get into these days?
I'm sure the education requirements vary depending in the company. Most companies will want to see a 4 year degree and industry experience. There are certs you can get, but from what I understand they don't really guarantee you know much about the scrum framework. Experience working with development teams in an agile environment is probably the most important thing to strive for. I started as a subject matter expert who occasionally advised development areas and eventually got closer to the day to day operations of agile development.
Can you explain what is scrum. Is it just like asking people to update user stories in Rally or Jira and monitoring them ?
In an ideal world it is a way to empower project teams to develop quickly and iteratively. It also creates an environment of transparency, therefore leasing to better accountability and team self management. The role of scrum master is to help foster that environment through certain prescribed processes and coaching. In many ways it is just bringing common sense back to Enterprise environments.
Oh nice. Our team's scrum master doesn't do anything apart from asking us to update user stories. Thanks for your answer. Btw I can't refer you because I'm an intern

Are you open to refer me as well for SWE position?
