Was super excited to make it to on sites for Uber 2 weeks ago. Living in the DC area and from a non tech background was excited to finally have an opp in DC that wasn’t consulting and not requiring me to have SWE expertise! Unfortunately I botched one question during the case interview. I literally felt the interview die at that point. I thought I was killing it until then. Hoped so much that the one question wouldn’t trump all the other parts of the interview. Unfortunately it did not. My recruiter literally told me that was the question that killed it for me :( TC- $103 YOE- 5 (non tech) Need some words of encouragement or just advice on where else I can look. Really trying to break out of the federal consulting bubble. But moving isn’t really what I am looking for right now
^this, you dodged a bullet.
Was it a behavioral question? What was it?
Case interview
Got rejected my first time, reapplied for a different role and got it 😊 I've also applied hundreds every week to other companies and received many call backs - honestly, don't take rejections personally and keep applying!
Totally bombed a FB interview, now I’m at another company in the FAANG 2 years later. It all worked out. Just stay positive and keep investing in yourself.
Use this as a learning moment and move on from it. It took me 3 years out of college to finally start hearing back for second and third round interviews (very uncommon) and finally got somewhere but I might get laid off now—so am I going to go crazy? No, I’m going to find another opportunity. It’s okay to fail because otherwise you will never learn about your weaknesses. Keep your head up!!
FB and amazon are in DC
Yep. Also there's MS, Oracle, VMware, Boeing and every single company that interacts with fed government which nowadays is pretty much any company. Cheer up.
Thanks! I’ll check those out
Look at their stock, you should feel better.
