As the title says I have managed to get rejected by all these companies after getting through whatever would be the final round. AMA about the process but I can't tell you what it is like to get an offer
What were each of their feedback?
Feedback is useless in my opinion. Nothing specific
Maybe that's the source of your issues?
In retrospect, what could you have done differently to get these jobs? Where did you go wrong?
I wish I knew! But it's demoralizing to think about this much rejection without getting into self doubt
I feel u! I went through that process when I was looking after being laid off a few years back. The hard part is I have been trying to transition from digital marketing into dev and it's been one of the more demoralizing experiences in general.
Why can't I get it up?
Stress
Really? The people I ask say I don't have what it takes.
Sorry to hear that. What kind of product case questions were you asked or whiteboard?
Generic how would you create x , what would you do in this scenario. LinkedIn had me solve an ongoing issue, Lyft had me weigh in on a new product, but Amazon was toughest of all
YoE ? You must have something stellar in your CV to get interviews at all these places.... What does one do to get to an interview? Did you write to them, referrals?
10+ . Some of them reached out to me and none were referrals. I guess I just matched what they were looking for.. just not enough to go all the way
Man. Hard luck. I'm not sure why you're in a rush to exit but good luck, hope things work to your satisfaction
How do I get such interviews lined up nicely?
It was over a year long process, it was not overnight. I'm still at my current job
If Facebook and uber asked you any specific social media or ride sharing problems, what did they ask? Such as solve airport pickups
Can't share that in case my problems were unique. But they weren't particularly tough questions
Totally up to you but if you could pm me (as opposed to posting here publicly) I would be very very grateful I have them coming up and I'm trying to leave my company
Did you let know companies that you were interviewing elsewhere and drop names?
Some of the time but it doesn't help. Recruiters will be recruiters and extra pressure doesn't do a thing
I have seen it backfire a few times as well.
Hi OP Sorry to hear that and I’m sure you would get invited again. 1) can u tell me the format for each of these? FB has product sense, execution, strategy and estimation as far as I know. What about others ? 2) did any of this have very technical rounds? Whiteboarding ? 3) were all these for a senior or staff PM roles?
1) each interviewer had a different area they were testing on but it wasn't always obvious what that was 2) LinkedIn and Amazon were extensive white board. 3) senior pm
Thanks. Were the white boarding session more system design or did they ask you to code?
How was the interview at Facebook and others? Why do you think you didn’t get them? Which one you liked and would love to be a PM at?
Without giving too many details, I was interviewing for a very specific role. I assume I just got beaten by someone better at each company. Interview at Facebook was fairly average. Basic questions on how I would do things and talk about my background. I really wanted the Google job since it was on the most interesting team.
From what I know atleast at Amazon, if more than one candidates meets the bar they usually move them out to other teams. They won't reject the canadidate
