So I had an onsite interview with one of the MFAANG companies on Monday for a senior SWE position. The interview process consisted of 4 rounds with a lunch meeting after 2 rounds. I thought that the first 3 went reasonably well, but not the last one in which I did not do well. I got a generic rejection email with a link to submit my expenses. This was my first ever interview with any of the Big 6 companies. I would be interested if employees or experienced interviewers can shed some light on the interview process. What is usually a good sign after the interview when people are considering your candidacy in a positive light? I am a consultant at my present company and I am looking for a full time position. I don't know what to add, but I could add more details if someone were to wish it.
"Big 6" isn't a thing lmao
Ok obviously you interviewed at Microsoft
Lol OP nobody is going to be able to identify you because you say the company name
I've been interviewed and rejected by most companies that could be considered FAANG. With each of them, there was always just one that did not go well. For two companies, every single interview except one went stellar - I finished way under time, discussed tradeoffs, etc, and even completed another problem or the hard follow-up in the time limit. The recruiters even told me I had glowing feedback. But there was always one.... I can tell from the beginning it's going to be bad based on the interviewer's demeanor. In one, the interviewer said nothing and handed me a piece of paper with the problem... the only time he spoke was to "point out the obvious". In another, every time he spoke it was in total agitation. No offers. None. One interview of all. They got to minimize false positives and all that jazz. Basically they either like you or not. If you already come from a FAANG then you'll likely be given the benefit of the doubt. If you don't, you just need to keep trying (LC and HR, and practice) until you get lucky and nail every single interview. Or they happen to like you. That's reality.
"could be considered FAANG" it's either FAANG or it's not my dude.
Microsoft isn't FAANG... but seems like it could belong on the same level.
It's a numbers game. It's like going on a date with a girl and then complaining that she's not into you. You gotta keep putting yourself out there. You'll get better with every interview.
Also, at least you were able to get an interview with M. I never heard back from them.
Newbie: what is N?
Netflix
Just a hunch but it looks like you interviewed at the M?
I would like to neither confirm nor deny this.
Crying real tears @ these Microsoft comments 😂
