Hi all, I had an offer from Microsoft and they took much longer (5 months) to get my H1B transfer done. Meanwhile I interviewed at Google and got better package and level. Google is my dream company. My MSFT start date is after 10 days from today. Can I still reject the offer given that my H1B transfer petition is done ? Will there be any consequences in terms of visa? p.s. i am still employed at my current employer whoch is Yahoo..l i haven't resigned. yoe: 3 tc: 185k
Why did microsoft take 5 months? Did they not do premium processing?
Attorneys took forever to respond the RFE
Not legal advice, but you can have any number of approvals and work for any number of them.
You can have visas approved from multiple companies. You are good on that front. But not sure if it is ethically the right thing to do after accepting. Can you please throw light on your current G and MSFT offer
You can have multiple approved petitions, once you choose to join a particular employer and fill the i-9 form, USCIS is notified on which employer you chose.
This. I had a transfer that completed but I had to reject for personal reason and I didn't resign at Amazon. It wasn't a big deal.
Thanks a lot. So i-9 has to be filled out by me? Or MSFT? As I have signed offer letter with start date of Oct 21. Does this automatically let MSFT to file i-9?
Yeah, usually part of your on boarding checklist. Once you fill it, your employer usually take care of sharing it with USCIS
Aah... Thank you souch!! ☺️
What rfe you got ?
Be transparent about this matter to MSFT to be fair and see if they will match it or beat it. As many of us seek better TC especially in SV. Don't just go on a ghost mode. Good luck
Go with Google. But keep MS updated with the situation. Google is also better at GC process if you're interested in pursuing
Do you know avg time it takes to get GC @ google?
Tell msft to match the offer or gtfo. Everything is fair when money is on the line. Take the job at google and enjoy the Benjamins. Don’t look back.
now that's really messed up.. what is Google's offer and level?
It's ~90k more than MSFT
Damnnn.... and MSFT offer?
