What are some relatively safe asset classes and their typicsl yield that are not FDIC-insured and not precious metals (in case that counts as “safe”)?
eBay stocks
Utility stocks, munis, high grade corporate debt, annuities, some real estate
Munis got hammered. So did utes. Correlation is close to 1 on risk-assets. One should diversify much before crisis....tax liens, collectibles, art, wine, etc are interesting asset classes.
High-yield bond alternatives
prison REITs 10% yield
I'd stay away from these. Will be a hot topic in next election given many also run ICE holding centers. Several banks have also vowed to withhold lending to prison REITs. Might be ok, but def not something I'd categorize as safe. BTW, the bonds yield also as much as the equities.
Interesting idea, but I’m not a proponent for for a private / profit prism system.
Cash, 0% or actually negative due to inflation
