There's so much animosity in this forum lately that it's become unbearable for the few who are genuinely seeking help or others who are trying to help. These are tough days so all the more reason to be kind to one another. To Immigrants: This is difficult time for all of us. It hurts to have worked so hard and so long to get here only to have your entire life uprooted on someone's whim. It hurts to have spent most of your adult life in this country, making friends, buying houses, raising kids, building a home, only for all of it to be snatched away in a blink. You always feel helpless and very few know your pain and even fewer who can empathize with it. I know this really hurts. I truly truly do! But that is not an excuse to lash out on everybody else! Find healthier ways to let off your anger and worries instead of insulting and harassing other nationalities/races/genders. This is not who you are! And if worst comes to worst and we all have to go back, is this how you want to go? Burning every bridge and goodwill before you leave? Losing what few friends you have left here? We might be hopeful immigrants, but ultimately we are guests in this country. If we are going to overcome this turbulent time, we will have to change minds. It will be by forging friendships, building relationships, and showing nothing but grace. To everybody else: This is not the best time to be a legal immigrant in this country. There's so little support for us in politics (left/right/independent nobody gives a shit about us) or in society or even our employers that most us feel we have no voice. So, a few are screaming as hard as they can. The behavior and attitude of these few have been rude to extremely offensive. I guess, for them, being hated is better than being ignored. I'm not asking you to forgive and forget. But, I ask you not judge us too harshly at what appears to be one of our weakest moment. To All: Know that someday, one way or another, this will come to pass. It might pass like a kidney stone BUT IT WILL PASS. Cherish whatever time you have left and make lasting friendships.
Great points. I'd add that the world progresses in waves of love and hate. Back in the mid-90s I remember all about Europe being xenophobic and not welcoming immigrants. I remember relatives telling me that even though they were legal immigrants people would be rude to them because of their accent and foreign passports (our great grandparents came from Europe, so it was like 90s Europe hated foreigners no matter what color/race you were as long as you were born somewhere else). Then came progress, EU consolidation of policies to foster legal immigration and asylum, because they have scared away all the labor and sexually active population who could have kids their economy was shrinking. Now it's America's turn to do shit and wait for the shit to hit the fan - progress will come, it's always a fight between the keep it and the change it and it hurts is more right now because 1-we all happen to be living here so we are subjects of all the attacks 2-there is Facebook and everything else you can think of that people spend time with to get information. You can argue that Trump's america is worse than pre EU Europe, but try to factor in the fact that in the 90s people only connected via newspaper, radio, TV and only a few hours per day. Now we are 100% connected, all the f'n time. Trump farts a tweet storm and all of a sudden we have hundreds of articles about it. It just feels worse that it actually is, so let's do what you said and be patient. It will pass. It'll be just fine.
Thanks for the history. I was not aware of the anti immigration backlash of 90s Europe. The waves analogy makes so much more sense.
OP, why so you think this is bad time for immigrants? I am on H1B from last 10 yrs and I like the way things are going... USCIS is giving RFEs which is kind of good...nothing wrong in asking about extra documents or going after petitions filed by consultancy companies...after all we all want fake consultancy companies to burn down? Don't we... We all want best 80k people to get H1B..right... I personally like when USICS gives RFE to renewal petition...fakers dont transfer companies because of fear and USCIS knows when to hurt such fake people... right on spot... Eb2 and eb3 priority date might also improve TRUE INDIAN
I liked most of the optimism of your post until the end where you showed your true colour of being a dumbfuck. Go back to fucking India and work for its betterment if you are such a true Indian.
By true Indian, what I am meant is, not all Indian like the misuse of H1B visa... And you just said, "fucking India"..this needs to be reported to your boss(CEO), who is again Indian.... 😂😋 Tell me, how does it feel to work in a company where you see asians everywhere...and just fyi, India is in Asia
