Suddenly reallocation is not an option for me, however, I signed an offer two months ago. What are consequences of reneging it?
Tell them politely and ask for work from home option. If not then say will join after 1 year due to family relocation concerns
Tell them the reason and see if they can offer an accommodation. If they want you enough, they will consider it. If not, they will understand. Family comes first.
^ this. As long as you’re polite, they will understand. No big deal.
The reason why you are reneging the offer will go into records. Be honest. Most people are considerate and accommodating. Google doesn't have any incentive to blacklist you if your concerns are legitimate. In fact, recruiters will follow up with you to see if things have changed at your end a year or so later. Just don't lie to your recruiter.
Ok thanks. Very nervous because i consider Google as future career, but it is just wrong time :(
So say exactly that. I am unable to relocate at this time due to family issues. Can we check back in a few months (or whatever time frame you think appropriate), and see if the circumstances change.
Definitely good to begin the future discussion in a single communication
You have options. We have local offices everywhere. People do work remotely. And you can often delay your start date. Sorry for your situation
