Renege Microsoft?

Currently interviewing for a cool team within Apple but already signed an offer for core services in MS. I’ve heard not great things about that team but I don’t want to burn bridges at a company such as microsoft. On the other hand, I’m a new grad and the team at Apple is a rotation program focusing on machine learning and ai which I think I would learn more in.

I’ve also heard switching teams at Microsoft isn’t too hard so maybe after my first promo I could get on Azure and that would be a better place to learn?

Not too concerned about the money, I have no idea what Apple pays but I’m happy with the Microsoft offer I got.

They kill us with the stock refreshes. More like none from what I’ve heard. :(

Yup, laughable really. But I think it’s a good place to be if you’re fixing stuff in your personal life. I have a few chronic health issues and my manager is very understanding. Doubt I’ll see that at AMZN/FB

Is it realistic to aim for one level promotion each year till level 65-66?

Not until L65. Perhaps until L62. L62->L63 is somewhat big and L64->L65 generally requires CVP approval, so you have to make a significant cross org contribution. The key is to lean on your manager heavily. He pretty much drives your career, which is unfortunate in certain cases. Also other factors like business need, projects in the org etc make. Big difference.

Yes internally it has a bad rap. Most managers shun employees from msit

If you try to get out after 1 year you may be okay. Definitely do not stay long though.

Msft is bad. Core services is the bad part of msft. Don’t worry about burning bridges. At msft, one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing.... they won’t remember.

@yMcg47 you are saying its ok to burn down the bridges. I am just curious to know this since I have accepted an offer from Microsoft. However I have thoughts about another one which is better interms of pay and work culture and internal team transfers.
just worries since I have already accepted offer from Microsoft.
      Please advise.

Better to bail before you start than make a mistake by joining. Simply inform MS that due to personal reasons you won’t be joining them. It happens and shouldn’t black list you.
