Signed an internship offer with a unicorn startup in SF. I'm dreading having to live in SF because of the stories I've heard about aggressive homeless, petty crimes, druggies, etc. I'm also not super interested in the company itself. I interned in NYC this summer and can see myself living in NYC for full time. I think I would be much happier in NYC compared to SF. Note: I have not interned or lived in SF before, so my fears could be irrational.
I recently moved to SF. It's not as bad as people make it out to be unless you're in the tenderloin. I think I have only been solicited once.
Your fears are extremely irrational. It's just a few months.
Look at ms high and mighty who is so above trudging around at infectious human waste. Look sweetheart, there’s nothing wrong with SF that you can’t solve by wearing those plastic contractor booties over your shoes. Stop acting like you’re better than us with your non-needle-laden home city. You’re not better than us. You shit every day, too, and so what if a little gets on your feet? /s It’s not that bad. Do what you want. But keep in mind that the whole point of an internship is to land a job when you graduate, so if you don’t want to live in SF, choose a different internship.
Just try it out for a few months. You’ll quickly learn what blocks to avoid and after that it’s not that bad a place to live. You won’t miss out much by trying it out for an internship That said, NYC is a pretty great place to live
Just live in the suburbs
So don’t do it? How did you get yourself into a situation to intern at a company you’re not interested in, in a city that you don’t want to live in lol?
I read that the company has good talent, and interesting work. I thought it wouldn't be so bad to try for an internship.
