Check the contract they want you to sign. I've reneged before for a smaller company. Worked out fine. You have to realize you may get black balled by them and all their acquisitions though.
It you are 'fine' with being blacklisted for Amazon and all subsidiaries, what outcome would you be not fine with?
Jeff will send an Apache helicopter to your house if you try and reneg
Yeah, just know that you can never work for a company that you renege from. I reneged so I’m in the same boat but it’s not a big deal because I actually didn’t like the company
Worst case is Amazon blacklists you, which is fine because no one should work for Amazon. They won’t blacklist you, but you should live your life as if they did, starting yesterday.
Would one renege an airbnb offer? What’s the consequence of doing that?
In my experience, they will give you more time if you indicate that otherwise, the answer is a no.
If you renege you have to be willing to wait 5 years in order to be reconsidered.
I'm not a new grad, but turned them down earlier this year. They came back to me 4 separate times with more money, stock, sign on. But I had moved on. I ran into their recruiter at a networking function and after saying hello and being cordial, she ghosted me over email when I pinged her a few separate times. I'm probably black listed for the time being, but they have shit benefits and vacation time, so I'm not worried. 👎
Did you turn them down after accepting or just in general?
I turned them down after accepting and submitting the signed paperwork. My guess is that I'm black listed for some period of time, unfortunately.
Have you asked them if you can have another x amount of time to think about it? That’s what I would do.
