Switched company in three months after joining. Offer letter said sign-on must be returned if leaving in less than one year. But nobody asked me for it at all, nor the HR during exit interview and nor my manager. I already got my last paycheck with vacation cash out money and there was no deduction in it. So am I in the clear or can they come back for it after the fact? This is a unicorn that I left to join a FAANG TC:310k
Hmm.... That sucks. It's a large amount and I don't keep that much cash in my checking usually. That sucks that they take it out at a random time in future
Close the account. It’s not a joke. It’s unlikely they’ll come after it but the risk is too high to not at least take precautions if you’re smart.
It's a unicorn? Then how is your company name New then?
Maybe just not updated? I'm at Oracle now
Account is from previous companies email
Close the checking account :)
Do this immediately. And expect them to come knocking between now and that year deadline. It's their money after all, but you don't want that sum sitting in your checking.
Have some integrity and ask!
You are good to go. No one will ask you that money anymore.
You are terrible for not returning sign on have some honesty and do the right thing
What if you were a minority employee stealing $50k from the bank you work at. Does that put it in perspective? Does that not rile you up more than the white collar crime you are committing?
Geez, it's hardly the same as stealing! I wouldn't worry about it if they don't ask, but probably a good idea not to spend it yet.
Not only Integrity but help them to fix there process . There may be more than you. However make sure you won't get sued for late charges etc ;)
Google contacted me a few months after I left. And then sent them a check. Make sure you pay back the same year as you left otherwise might cause tax problems.

What is the appeal to NVIDIA?
In my case it was a direct adjustment in my bank account a few months after the fact.
They can’t take out money from your account with your consent or a court order
ACH reversals are a thing I’m afraid.
