Have a phone screen with Revolut; fintech startup valued at around $1.7 billion. Can anyone speak to their culture?
Are there any specific things you would like to know?
I see a lot of horror reviews about their London office. As I understand it, there currently isn’t really a NYC office to speak of, only core management, so I guess I’m wondering how different the NYC office culture is from the seemingly toxic London office. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt though, that most people who write such reviews are usually the problem children themselves and like to point fingers.
I’ll echo your sentiment and say I’ve only had a positive experience so far. I always take negativity with a grain of salt. Exciting that the NYC office is growing.
Has the culture changed in recent times for London office?
Can’t speak to the London office, but NYC seems extremely disorganized. Spoke to two people about a role and got conflicting descriptions of the same role each time. But each described London as “intense”.
That is unfortunate, seeing as the team is still being built there that should be expected. I will relay this to the team there.
Your recruiters are incredible and professional. I can’t speak on the operational staff other than my somewhat negative experience with interviewing. Wishing them luck. Their space will be dominated by bulge banks.
Respectfully I’d disagree. All banks are now redirecting capital expenditure on Fintech and instant payments. Revolut also relies on banks to custody assets. Once a global blockchain is up and running, major banks will probably be on the same chains for trading away, unless they make trade ledgering and payment ledgering on different chains. Either way, it’s a fun concept and they seem to have gotten traction in the UK, but we aren’t the UK. Here you’ll have to go head to head with PayPal and Venmo, and god knows how many start ups or banks that have the same concept being developed confidentially. Like I said, wish them luck. No ill will.
Also, the offer was $69k for a senior role. Get real or get out of NYC. Even 5 minutes of due diligence shows that most of Revolut is operating on cheap labor from Russia. Your chances of iterating at a faster pace than your competition with quality product is pretty much nil. But yea, good luck with your MBA loans ;)
This is an example of a Revolut employee, if you needed reference.
Exhibit B. The subject is upset because their company is going to fail and doesn’t have the capital to pay talent, only to farm cheap labor out to Russia. All of the negative things you read about them are true.

Very interested in the answer too. Any idea about IPO date?
Their recruiting process is a bit... unique. I got the feeling they are a low paying startup from the phone interview. Multiple rounds, a GMAT math test, a take-home case study with PowerPoint presentation, then more interviews as you pass each stage. They do not discuss anything revolving around IPO.
What position is that? I'm applying for Software Engineering positions
