Does anyone else feel that titles like “Chief Strategic Thinker” or “Class A Marketing Ninja” are plain ridiculous?

If a resume ever shows up on my desk with such ridiculous titles, I just throw them away. Period.

What do you folks think?

      What has a ridiculous title have anything to do with an individual’s personality? If anything most people just use regular business titles and I know plenty of them are interesting and intelligent people.

    I do this all the time. I put my title as “Data acquisition analyst” when I worked as a call center phone person because we’d listen to our calls at the end of the week and make improvements to our tone and customer service skills.

      If someone works in an org and has a self-imposed title of a “Chief Strategic Thinker”, they already have a very high opinion of themselves.

      They can continue to be the Strategic-Thinker-In-Chief, I will find someone relatively normal for my team

      That or maybe they don’t care about their title so they try to put something clever that stands out. I get what you’re saying but I wouldn’t penalize or screen them out early cuz of that.

      Personally I think it’d be interesting to just ask them what makes you a “chief strategic thinker”? I’m sure red flags will be raises if they can’t justify it.

    Titles on LI that are wacko just pull you out of the sourcing pool by recruiters. The LI headline is another story. Maybe you are getting them confused?
