Hi Folks I got an offer from Amazon Sunnyvale team for Sde 2. I have 7+ yrs work experience but no negotiation for sde3 is being entertained. Base: 175 Sign on: 40 per year for 2 years Rsu: 200k over 4 years Does this seem ok for the bay area? Also, does anyone know if I can delay a accepting it for a little bit? The recruiter is after my ass even though it's not been long since I got the offer. I want to make sure I have other offers to compare.
Somewhere near the top of the band
Top of band in premium locations is 270k TC
What is your current level in vmware? I am in a similar situation as yours. No negotiation for sde3
Sr mts. I am not sure if they are low balling with respect to level. I have seen people at sde3 level with 6 yrs experience also. Not sure if I can push back on level though
Top of SDE2 but seems low for someone with 7+ yrs experience. What is your current TC? Also is it 25% each year vesting for RSUs?
Roughly 200k. Nope, usual amzn BS way of vesting 5 15 40 40
Thats why they kept TC at 200k. 175 + 20 sign on, you are not getting any raise. If I were you I wouldn’t take this offer unless they change these numbers or you absolutely don’t want to be in vmware.
Seems a bit less. I had an offer for 178k base, 90k and 75k bonus first two years and 120 units stock for sde2 couple of months ago. 4 yoe.
On levels.fyi, I see that Sr. mTS at VMware is equivalent to SDE3 at Amazon. Can I push them for giving me sde3? I have just started my negotiation, but not sure how to push them more. I am still interviewing and they are in a rush to have me accept offer soon. What advice do you give to help me push them ?
It will be hard without re-interviewing to get a level bump. FYI, With 4 yoe, I got 286k TC in SF.
What you can do is to say that it is not meeting your expectations, and that you would like to complete the interview process that you already have started. But that if they can come up to X TC then you would accept their offer now.
What's the offer deadline? And does Amazon generally extend deadlines?
This is L5 right?... The offer honestly sounds really good... You would be on the upper end already... Curious, how much of bump in % are you getting w.r.t total comp?
