SDE1 Amazon Offer Evaluation

New Safira
Aug 5, 2018 24 Comments

Salary: $108K
Signing: $24K/20K first and second year
RSU: $70K over 4 years (5/15/40/40)
Relocation: 10K lump sum or assistance service

Finished my masters this year. Does this offer reflect that accurately? How is it in comparison to the B.S. new-grad offers?

Thanks!

Looks pretty middle of the offer range for new grad offers. It can go up to 112k, 35, 30, and 75.

    Not bad tho

Your numbers are for last year's new grads who interned previously. Amazon new grad offers are take it or leave it. They won't negotiate at all.

      That’s not true at all

That is true. It's written in the offer letter and was reiterated multiple times by recruiters. I had an offer for MS and I tried using that to negotiate and they wouldn't budge.

I have a coworker that wasn’t an intern that received the above offer

Probably wasn't a new grad then. I'm also friends with a PM in UP and she's also confirmed that all new grad offers are non negotiable.

Masters students get a higher offer btw. I forgot to mention that. Also if you're placed in the bay area or NYC you get a higher offer

He was a new grad (interned at another top company), and to the best of my knowledge doesn’t have a masters.

      He’s Seattle.

What would my offer be if intern in Seattle and want to join full-time in SFO?

They just released a new offer. Last summer it was 118k base, 38.5k and 33k signing bonus for year 1 and year 2, and 75k stocks. Not sure what the new offer looks like

      @pbuj80:
Similar offer from 4 years ago with masters: 100k, 29/22, 50k rsu, 10 reloc.
Did you have another offer from Fb and declined this?

Nah I just joined FB a year ago. I joined amazon but didn’t end up very well with my team and manager :(

What are you? Just a fresh graduate.
It is a good offer. Go for it unless you get offers from Google/fb. Focus on learning, not TC and change job later based on your learning/experience

Standard/universal number. Not negotiable unless you have a better offer from FB or Google.

They won't even negotiate if you have a better offer. I know a bunch of return interns that went over to Google and FB because Amazon wouldn't negotiate at all.

Amazon matches if the candidate has competing offers from these two.
