Asking for a friend. At Microsoft, what's the average salary bump when getting promoted from 62 to 63? Are there any stocks / other increments as well that apply?
Usually $10k, target bonus jumps from 10% to 15%
Mine was around ~13% to $155k. But that might be higher than the norm
Typical is 5% base increase (+merit increase if it happens at review time). At L63, you also get 50% more bonus (15% target, up from 10%) and 50% more stock ($17K target, up from $11K).
By merit increase do you mean bonus(i.e target)?
"Merit" is the base salary increase you get each September that isn't attributable to a promotion. It's not bonus. It's only partly related to your individual performance that year (there are many external factors out of your control).
Depends on your compa ratio. More under 1.0, the higher the raise and vice versa.
Mine went up exactly 10%.
So if I have 150k base at L62 is that bad?
Usually 5 to 10%. No stock or bonus on promotion but the target bonus and stock goes up which will benefit the individual starting next annual review.
5 to 8% typically. If your new compa ratio ends up being too low (read less than about 0.92) a conscientious manager will give you more significant bump to position you at about 0.96 / 0.98. If your new compa is higher than 1 you'd likely get a small bump but never less than 5%.
