I'm planning to switch to a new job (Software Engineer) and am done with my on-site interviews at Apple, Google and Uber. If I get an offer, I may be asked what is my salary expectation is. This is my first switch and I'm not entirely sure how do you decide what is *reasonable* ask is. How much increment people usually ask for and how do negotiations go? My current TC is 130k + 4500 NTNX RSU over 4 years, almost 2 yoe. Currently working in San Jose. Looking in silicon valley in general including SF. Any difference between SF and South Bay salaries?

If work location is in silicon valley: Base: 150 to 160k RSU: 200k over 4 years at the minimum. All of this with your annual performance bonus will end up at 220k TC.
4500 NTNX at current rate is more than 200k in stock value. Since you area leaving early, ypu are leaving a lot of cash on the table. Hence ask for a sign on bonus if you can.
Thanks. Yes this is silicon valley location. Also wondering is there difference between salaries in SF vs South Bay
