Recently moved to LA and began looking for a job. I was an operations manager at an A/V Company for 2 years before the move. I ended up interviewing at a newer A/V company and it went really well. I got a call for a second interview where they wanted to discuss pay and a potential start date. I asked for 65,000 which was 5,000 more than what I was making at my previous job. The only reason I asked for that much is because LA is insanely more expensive than where I lived previously They counter offered with 45,000 and wouldn't budge. Did I ask for too much? Was I being unreasonable?

I would not move to LA on that salary unless your lifestyle requirements are extremely low. (Cheap clothing, meals at home only, cheap beer at home only, etc.) For me at least, that life would depress the shit out of me.
