got contacted by these companies, curious what salaries are for software engineers ? considering relocating from Luxembourg. Current TC: 105k
You can have one of the top qualities of life in the world in Amsterdam with 60k+. Of course you'll have a lot more take home in the states but your life will not be idyllic
Uber Amsterdam Senior Software Engineer base salary is around 100k EUR. Equity on top of that. As an expat in NL you get a nice tax bonus too.
With IPO round the corner, it sounds even more lucrative.
does it include holiday allowance?
I know multiple people working at most of these companies except for Syntax. For eng culture: #1 Uber & DataBricks (...) #42 Booking (see the CTO they hired after 1.5 years of intense search and his track record https://www.teamblind.com/article/Thoughts-on-Matt-Swann-as-CTO-8ANmOTPa ) For scale/impact per eng #1 Uber #2 Booking #3 Databricks For TC #1 Uber (high base & meaningful equity with an undervalued stock price - stock issues at 62B valuation) #2 DataBricks (good base and high options equity but one that’s hard to validate its value and unclear if/when they’ll IPO. Also, exercising options will take up most your salary as their strike price is quite high (see eg https://www.teamblind.com/article/Databricks-offer-eval-zsmUvVhB) #3 Booking. Similar both a bit lower base than both before and close to no stock.
Why is Databricks at #3 for scale/impact per eng? Can you please elaborate?

Top salary in Amsterdam is about 80k. Booking pays in the 60s
How do you survive on that kind of money?
does it include stocks, sign on? or just base salary? does base include 8% holiday money?
