How likely is it to negotiate a salary from $20 to $25-$27. Is that too much of a reach or is this a common type of negotiation. The job I’m applying for is not my first choice but if others fall through then I’d like to have this as an option. The pay is not what I’d like it to be unless I can get it up to at least $25. I do exceed some of the requirements like the minimum sql requirement
Have a simple, compelling reason for why $25 is your floor. It’s reasonable to say that you’re excited about the job, but your basic needs require $25/hour pay. Ask them: How close can they get to that number? What would it take for you to get that kind of pay?
What kind of tech job pays $25/hr? That is pretty low..
That’s exactly how much I made my first internship.
Some people make this much. It’s not bad, it’s not a FANG company. It doesn’t seem like it, but I really hope you’re not judging him off what he makes. OP, politely bargain with them on your skill set, relative pay for your area, and your personal reasons (travel, etc) for asking for such. Always start at the most and then be worked down. It’s like craigslist selling lol
Per hour? Basically set a floor at what you’re willing to accept and anything else is a bonus. Give a number too high and they won’t consider it though.
