I am working in Minneapolis as a data scientist for the past 3 years and have been getting so many sales emails from startups/midsize orgs directly to my work email. I am wondering how they get employee emails and spam us. I have made several complaints to IT to mark them as spam but they continue to flood my inbox though few go to spam. I have also had a few companies reach out to me on my work phone directly. Most of the these emails start with "Are you struggling with deploying your predictive models in production ? We have the best solution to your team for generating more revenue". I mean what the hell!!! Though I ignore these, but it irritates me to the core. Is this common?
Yes. The worst are those that ask for a returned receipt of delivery. Like fuq u.
Haha wow, that is ridiculous!!
Yes, I get those too. I just received the fourth email in chain from the same sales guy. It looks like they have set template emails they use to send out for their first/second/third communication etc.
Yes...It’s a “cadence”. Apparently some inside sales experts recommend up to 13 follow ups. Hopefully they don’t have your phone number.
Yes! There are all kinds of tools that “guess” people’s work emails from their name on LinkedIn. Usually they are right! They probably look you up, see you are a data scientist, run you through the tool, and voila - spam! Not going to lie, my company does it when trying to source candidates globally lol.
