What we truly want to know - how quickly does Blind combine our company channels?!?

I hear, the Tableau channel actually has real discussions and people posting as their real selves sometimes.
      Jun 10
    • Tableau 3fortnight
This is true. Some people post as themselves. And the channels are a mixture of vitriol, farce, and honest conversations.

Welcome to the SF Ohana, that wont happen....Our channel is currently wondering why a thread that was trolling and shit talking a senior manager got removed....
      Jun 10
    • Salesforce GH6538
All the threads shittalking VPs get removed. And sometimes the VPs get removed after that. So there’s that.

They dont. Probably depends on how hard Salesforce integrated Tableau. Microsoft still has its own and Linkedin has their own.

There is a separate MSFT+LNKD channel that nobody uses.

Now I wonder what Einstein analytics aka Wave would be for

But the only thing - they have to bring uniformity between these two products and sell based on usecase.

I think tableau; is single machine solution - like desktop or cloud vm. EA is cloud platform where u don’t manage anything. Just pump data set up ETL flow and run query. EA Platform could have much bigger impact. But leadership and architects solved problems one by one - mostly re architect and building home grown solutions - rather than starting from Open source ELT stuff. They missed bigger picture and focused on smaller things.

I personally like wave than Tableau! I have used both the tools !

If I remember correctly Wave was an acquisition too . We spent time coupling it tightly with salesforce

What was the reason for waves slow feature churn rate ! It’s mostly the backend teams not being able to scale and not working with one bigger goal. Each team would work on their own items .

May be better leadership would have sorted this out. Most leaders in Wave were introverts I don’t want to pin point anyone but they lacked charisma ! See them on big town halls they go hiding or shy to even ask a question!

    • Salesforce TableForce
The two products don’t really overlap much. One is a biz tool for analysts and the other is a cloud analytics platform targeting Salesforce end users

Sent a message a bit ago, thanks!!

And I'm mostly doing it for money. But also, would like to try a smaller company, tableau's culture looks good, and benefits are ridiculously good.

So I've been at Amazon for 6 years straight. Staying in one place for that long is a recipe for salary stagnation. TC 180.

So I'm at the bottom of the band for my level and it will never move until I get promoted into the bottom of the next band. I'm close, but if I got a role at Tableau, it'd be equivalent to middle of the band for my next level at Amazon. I'd rather just go.

I'm trying to do what this person did and negotiate with multiple offers. Wouldn't need them if I got the Tableau offer, but in case I don't, also going for Salesforce, Grab, Stripe, and Microsoft. I want to move to and work in the Eastside of Seattle, which is why I have chosen these companies.

We use Tableau at our company and have been for a while now, the people, their culture is so welcoming and optimistic, the Tableau conference last year was an amazing learning opportunity for me...however my impression of salesforce is really negative, very competitive, from what my friends who work their tell me...that’ll be an interesting collision of organizational cultures...I’m concerned about what change this will bring for their clients?! Thoughts anyone?

You’ll hear good and bad from any decent size company. I contracted inside SF for over a year and it seemed a great place to me. Look at people slamming Tableau in other threads. Gotta take everything you see here with a grain of salt.

Depends on which cloud. Some Salesforce clouds are more competitive and less Ohana-esque, but for the most part it’s a happy, warm, welcoming place. Not discounting your experience, just saying it’s not the norm.
