Levels.fyi has a lot of data for ic levels but almost nothing for managers at salesforce. I’ve also heard there is some title inflation (not sure if that’s true). What are the expectations and comp for the different management levels? This question is focused on engineering.
I can attest to this. Salesforce inflates titles. Director and VP is sort of middle management. SVP and higher are real deal. Lots of Directors at Salesforce
Engineering manager is equivalent to SMTS Senior engineering manager is equivalent to LMTS Director of engineering is equivalent to PMTS
I was looking at the levels then ended up at Sith and Jedi levels somehow... I wonder how their TC ranked in the galaxy
For which country ? It’s varies a lot based on the Geo
USA Seattle and SF more specifically
Massive title inflation compared to G or FB. L5/L6 manager is director or senior director.
How big are the typical orgs for managers or directors?
Some Directors have orgs of 3
Is that typical?
Crazy title inflation. Almost every manager I come across is director and the half ICs are PMTS.
What is the title of a typical second level manager?
https://www.levels.fyi/?compare=Oracle,Salesforce&track=Software%20Engineering%20Manager - Does this look correct? A Director is equivalent to Manager/Sr Manager at Oracle?
IC track is AMTS MTS SMTS LMTS PMTS Architect and beyond Manager starts at LMTS equivalent then goes Senior, director, senior director, VP, SVP Engineering comps are less than FAANG for same title. Director makes 300-400k, at FAANG director is probably pulling in close to 1M, so by that measure there is title inflation, but probably more common for non-FAANG.
What are the expectations for those different manager roles? Do the pay bands map between the equivalent ic/manager tracks? Is that TC comp for director data or a guess?
Mostly a guess, based on information I've heard. I'd be shocked if a director was making much more than that though.
