Director of Product, San Francisco
Base: $225
Bonus: 20%
RSU: $150k total over 4 years (or, 37.5k/yr)

Recruiter said that she could probably push up the base to $230k and the RSU is maxed out until I can show a competitive offer or unvested equity I am leaving on the table and even a that it would be $20-30k max total.

Seems to be on the low side but I would like to request current employees to evaluate.

Unless Salesforce director is more like L5/E5 at G/FB lol

I don't think L5/E5 are very high levels, just speculating that maybe Salesforce has title inflation.

You wouldn't get junior work. They're different jobs. Director at Salesforce is like Senior Manager in other companies.

Depends on the vertical / function / line of business. Some (most) functions are title inflated here. Other functions are under titled for role and scope when compared to the market.

It’s a weird spot to be in. Ask me how I know.

Director at Salesforce is a pretty senior title with product line level responsibilities. However most of the comments are from consumer companies which generally pay a lot more. Enterprise software companies don't pay that much.

I would love to hear thoughts from current/former Salesforce employees or folks in the enterprise software companies.

Comparing Salesforce to Google/FB/AirBnB is not a good comparison.

I agree to the previous comments that Salesforce has a huge title inflation. I’ve seen people in salesforce with two years of experience and became director and many with very unrelated experience from no name companies became senior director. Not saying you are not good, but a director in sfdc just doesn’t compare to other directors in the tech industry. So to me this is a very generous offer.

In AWS, you would often see people who have been vp, svp for over 5 yrs from the likes of HPE, VMware, juniper to become sr manager when they join AWS. If they were to join sfdc they would have been evp or c-level stuff. Just to give you a perspective of the difference.

The only good thing about this offer is the title. Total comp is $307k. This is basically an L4 (maybe low L5) offer. So this is an offer for PM or Senior PM.

Toobad you again :) This is what I guess. Based on your posts in sfdc, I had an impression that you are a pmts. A dilemma of sfdc pmts is that it's base is actually slightly higher than e6, but it's rsu amount is lower than even e5 of Facebook. I think you got e5 offer and that's why your total comp didn't go up. Because of this, pmts with multiple rsu batches joining Facebook as an e5 does not make sense. The offer should be e6 to make financial sense.

Salary is good. RSUs are low. Remember Salesforce rarely gives RSU refreshes so if that is important you should know that before joining.

  • Amazon Teon
The fact that they are willing to increase rsu’s is a good sign.. it’s weird that they want a competing offer to increase it. if you are willing to move away from the offer you give them a final offer.. if they don’t match you should be willing to walk out.

This is a good offer in the scope of SF. Dont accept if you expect stock refreshes or any sort of big total comp increase.

Not sure if salary comparison with FB or google is the right thing to say director title is low here. Salesforce salaries are lower in comparison to FB, GOOG or Amazon. Your rsu can increase more but base is correct. PM role in Salesforce is good and you will have lot of interaction with customers and close relation with scrum team. Culture is very good here and you will love the overall environment if you stop comparing with FB or GOOG salaries.

Hmm. I got more RSUs than that but it did increase quite a bit in the past year too. Salesforce stock is doing really well and should continue to do well. Great company to work for
