Salesforce verbal offer vs 2 written offers?

I have a verbal offer from Salesforce, and 2 written offers from Deloitte and a startup for Senior Solutions Engineer/ Consultant roles.

The team at Salesforce does not have a headcount now but said they are expecting one in Dec/Jan and can forward a written offer then.

I really like the role at Salesforce so willing to wait, but that will mean I will lose the others. But I want to retain the negotiating power from these counter offers. Any advice?

Don’t trust salesforce. I accepted a verbal offer from them only to find out they retracted the offer without letting me know. As a result I waited a month because they lied to me and told me the written offer was delayed due to different excuses. The recruiter and hiring manager both stopped responding after 3 weeks, I only figured it out when I saw the job got reposted.

Sorry to hear. Which team had you interview for?

      It was the infra team

Infra went through a reorg, that might be the case. Salesforce never retracts verbal offers

I just told you they retracted my verbal offer....so you’re statement is probably incorrect.

I had to find the senior director who was in the loop on LinkedIn and message him because hiring manager and recruiter wouldn’t respond AFTER I accepted the verbal offer.

The recruiter eventually called and left a VM saying they can’t do the offer anymore....

@Vladputin It seems some people have had unpleasant experiences with verbal offers.
Can you please share if you any experience with verbal offers from Salesforce and how the company followed-up from there?

Sorry to say that, but don't trust Salesforce. My verbal offer just disappeared. It also happened to at least two of my colleagues who "almost got hired" for the same role.

What does that mean they don't have a headcount? They don't have a clear situation in terms of bringing new people on board. The decision of your Salesforce potential manager depends on his manager and so on. If anything changes, they won't even remember your name, trust me. Don't waste your life on waiting for verbal offers to clarify.

I am sorry to hear that.
I agree with Microsoft above, very surprising that a company with strong culture practices has done this to multiple people.

This happened to you too? Mind sharing what exactly happened in your case?? It happened to me too but I’m curious HOW it went down because in my case they weren’t even professional about it and were planning to just ghost me until I started making a fuss...

I was an intern and my return offer was verbal. Some of my colleagues said "yes" and they gave up on their other hiring processes. Just before their graduation date it turned out that things had changed and they couldn't join the company due to some internal location/department related moves. Sure, we were only new grads, but I wish the company handled it in a more ohana-way. And if it happened once to us, it can happen to anyone at anytime later. It's just about their standards.

Recently learned November is the big headcount reshuffle based on Marc’s V2MOM. Maybe they get one, maybe they don’t.

Do you mind if I ask how many rounds? I just went through my first phone interview before the holidays and was followed up the other day with the “headcount” talkline

Oh that’s a tricky situation then. I have a strong offer from a another employer but SF is honestly my top preference. The hiring manager and recruiter keep assuring that they have headcount coming in dec/ jan.
Any alternate way that they can finalize the offer now?

Also, they were able to secure headcount in January but themselves pushed back since H1B transfer on premium processing was suspended. Now it is unlikely they will have a headcount in near future
