Looking for the next big thing. After several rounds of invetigation, i ended up with focus on Samsara and Flexport. Heard both are growing fast, culture is not bad(i’m not that picky about culture, as long as it is not crazily toxic). Flexport is larger but heard most of revenue is going to the shipping company, not sure if that is true. Economy recession is coming, absolutely a risk to join a startup now. Thoughts?
Both of them look like they have a decent future and a good chance of either getting acquired or going public. But if you’re looking to be challenged technically too then they ain’t it.
How would you compare them to snowflake
I didn’t look at infra field. Personally I think most large company would build infra by themselves, most small companies would be easily satisfied by a simple MySQL instance on cloud. I feel like most infra startup would be acquired by large company to become one department in the best case. Maybe I am wrong
Lol you were dead wrong.
Flexport for sure. Samsara is going down the drain
Come to Flexport to see how tech can change an extremely outdated industry (largest competitor started in 1700s). It’s very interesting from a business standpoint. We’re making headway but haven’t cracked the nut yet in the industry. Our ML layer augments our operations teams instead of purely automating away their work. Our culture is awesome with our recently joined CTO. Go to Samsara for the tech challenge. It’s a tech product with low latency high throughput requirements. What do you want to do with the knowledge you gain from both companies? IoT takes you into self driving, hardware. Freight tech can take you into logistics, healthcare, education, real estate startups
Thanks Ryan
I wish...I’m just an engineer but thanks for the nod

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
Flexport will be 60b in next 2 years
Why do you think so? Mind elaborating a little bit?
