I am currently working at Microsoft (Level 60) for about a year (total 3 yoe). On one year review my manager told me to start looking opportunities outside MS and I have around 3 months. I cleared interviews at google but I am stuck at Team matching and I am not sure if I can make it in time (get a job offer from them before getting fired). I can't ask HR to hurry as I did not get any other offer yet. I am currently on H1B, I do have good problem solving skills but I have worked in different fields and find it hard to clear knowledge based interviews. One of the Uber recruiter is/was going to setup interview this week but looking at news I am not sure now. What are my options? Details: My first 6 month connect had insufficient results marked, I didn't realize what it was then. The connect had negative comments but my Manager told me it happens being new hire and new to web when I tried to explain anything. I lacked communication during 1on1s throughout the year. It has been two months since my yearly review now, but there is reorganization going on so in recent 1on1 my manger said I will have a month extra, may be. My performance has been low for few reasons that I concluded 1. I never liked working in front end 2. I did not take my job as new job (I wasn't focused, hard working) 3. I think my Manager expects a little more than supposedly from Level 60 (I work in team majorly consisting of Senior and Principal SEs) 4. My communication sucks There might be few other reasons. I am going to work on myself to not face this again.
DM for referral at Oracle. You could switch to Google when your team matching is done. Before you or others complain about Oracle, something is better than nothing. Plus Oracle is not a bad tech company either. Although in complete honesty, I am leaving the firm soon. So in the mean time if I could help, I will.
If you don’t like frontend, can you switch teams to a backend role?
DM me for LinkedIn referral. We don’t share perf stats with msft.
What a roller coaster ride. Good luck. I just had my on site today with google. After reading this thread I realize how far there is still to go. Good luck on your journey.
Yep, it is pretty slow. Good luck. Let me know how it goes for you or make a post when you hear something, usually I keep reading ones with google in it.
Dude. U passed G interviews. U can pass others. Keep hopes up and keep applying. Good luck.
I’m really glad you are able to understand yourself introspectively.
She won't ask for details? How can I make sure she takes it so that she won't think I might have issue transferring it?
You already have a google offer! How long does the HR say will team matching take?
I cleared interviews, next stage is team matching and HC which are going in parallel right now. I am not sure what to tell google recruiter when I get laid off. HR said team matching takes 1-3 weeks but it has already been almost 3 weeks.
If HC is still remaining, thats a huuge hurdle. I suggest meanwhile try more interviews
