recently I failed onsite interview for Amazon for SDET position. interview was great and I solved all problems with like 2-3 ways. debugging was great and they asking me to slow down since I had a lot of things to say. But I got rejected anyways. On a feedback they said that I have to work under my software automation skills. it's ok, but I didn't have any questions about it. Design - yes. algorithms - yes. behavioral - yes. There was no automation at all ( I would like to work over something that I mised, but I have no idea what was wrong. Does anyone can explain me what could cause this? I understand that is random lottery, but anyway...
did they ask you on enumerate the test data after some problem solving question? that could be one point of failire. Remeber this is just an example
You definitely dodged a bullet.
Was this a US based interview? You don't sound like a native English speaker. Your self analysis of the interview sounds objective enough and you seem confident. Perhaps they were more concerned with your communication skills? It seems like your problem solving is on point, but communication is becoming more important all the time. Maybe spend more time reading and speaking in English. Sometimes, people aren't willing to say what the real problem was because they are afraid of discrimination accusations or other problems. Tbh, I would be concerned with your written and verbal communication skills as a hiring manager. That doesn't mean you aren't capable as an individual! However, integration and communication with the team is very important for organizational success.
If you aced the technical interview I would hire you unless you were applying for document writer role. They were not ready for you. Let's say they just gave you an opportunity to find a better role.
If they asked you to slow down it could have meant your thoughts were scattered or disorganized
How did you get the feedback from them? It seems Amazon doesn't give interview feedback.
I was rejected without reason even after doing all questions correct with best complexity . I would just say it as a bad luck
You dodged a bullet, friend. I wish I'd never left google.
Why so?
I wish too, but I'm a vendor ;(
