long time search googler who feels need to blow whistle. not using work email for obvious reasons. the search team at google needs a full reboot. we’ve made no progress in the past 6 years ive been here and the culture is toxic. leadership care most about protecting their million dollar salaries and not for employees. we’ve had no original ideas, when i challenged one lead i was berated for being too junior to understand the strategy, then later my manager asked me why im complaining. what is one single idea we’ve come up in the past 6 years? if it wasn’t for the android team we wouldn’t have even done voice or mobile optimized results. the narcissism from some of leaders is sickening, the passive aggressive bullying is rampant along with favoritism. none of my friends in ads, android, assistant or cloud have these issues — these orgs reward innovation and have real leaders. my friends laugh at our launches, we are ruining google with a facebook feed on the home page — ruining what our founders created. sundar please bring in new senior leaders, these people don’t deserve their million dollar salaries. just ask - if we stopped staffing search today what would change? the machine takes care of itself.
JG should have been done a big reorg a long time ago.
If Android and other teams are good, why don’t you move there and do yourself a favor?

for me the weirdest thing was that they didn’t make changes after Amit left. he fostered the toxic culture along with the people who were loyal to him. even the way folks spoke about people in calibration meetings was sickening. i left a year ago but am shocked sundar made no changes - heard leadership is the same even as we see no query growth.
fwiw, anytime I ask about google I hear the same thing. toxic culture in search, still haven’t recovered from the bullying and harassment from the old SVP - teams to join are ads and android.
How is this blowing the whistle? I see nothing unethical hear.
