Which would be a better choice in terms of maximizing savings. How is the traffic/commute in Seattle compared to Austin? I'm willing to relocate to any city which offers a better return for my time I'm familiar with Austin in terms of suburbs and stuff, what are good cost-effective suburbs to live in Seattle? TC: $150K
I haven’t lived in Austin for 10+ years, but traffic was comparable to Seattle
This would definitely be Seattle unless you can secure 200k position in Austin
All else equal, Austin is cheaper. If you can get the same salary in Austin as you'd get in Seattle like I did, jump as quick as you can.
can you share your TC and YOE?
Move to Bay Area . It’s baap of all tech jobs and high TC. TC : bay > Seattle >Austin . House price : bay > Seattle >Austin. Weather wise bay is good too compare to all. Lot of California people moving to Seattle and seattle people moving to Austin for your reason like savings and house .
Having lived in all the 3 places i believe i have credentials to comment on this post. Austin is cheaper than both seattle and bay area hence people who just wants cost perspective can move to austin. Bay area is best in opportunities but you don’t have personal life as you’ll spend it in commute or work. Infact seattle i believe has best quality of living since you can be on beach or trail within less than 30 mins. Lots of weekend getaways as bay area and as well tech scene is becoming better nd better day by day.
Seattle always. Texas is a desert.
The entire state huh?
This is wrong. Austin is far from a desert.
