I'm not just talking about the lack of racial diversity, although that certainly is the case. Like half the city works for Amazon and Microsoft, and everyone else in tech. This plays a major role in the city being dull, lacking character and urban energy.
The boring safety of homogeny make it a great place to live the "American Dream" if you're able to ignore the rising class disparity and gentrification.
It is also a mostly white place so that adds to the dullness, not to mention the weather
But there are at least 4 different kinds of white hipsters to enjoy /s
Going to a party or mixer where it's 90% tech bros is a buzz kill, the anti Viagra.
sounds to me you might be looking in the wrong places. if you only go to places techies can afford that's what you'll find. I've lived here for over a decade and found plenty of interesting non techy people in e.g. the arts
Better than SF. Seattle isn't actually that full of engineers, you're just in a bubble
SF has lot of finance as well. Definitely more diverse and interesting than Seattle.
Moved from Seattle to SF last year. A lot more diversity and energy here. Seattle was too boring
Maybe you need to get out more? join a meetup where the interests aren't tech related? I've noticed that it's easy to think everyone does something if that's all you're around. Maybe get into something different and you'll see the other stuff? that's what I did. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
I joined a soccer Meetup. no one I play with is in tech. it's refreshing.
If you move away then there will be one else person here working in tech. Bye Felicia
Seattle is super white
When it snows the city becomes mostly invisible π

It's filled with mindless tech drones, weird socialist hippies, and bums. Most boring and insufferable city I have ever lived in.
