Why would you choose Brooklyn / Queens over Secaucus for housing? I am looking for a 2 Br apt and like the Harper @ Harmon Meadows in Secaucus. 3k $ per month for 1150 sq feet brand new construction. Also no need to pay NYC city tax which will save me around 500$ per month. In Queens / Brooklyn I am finding apts that are much older or smaller for similar price. I will be working for Google so my commute from Secaucus would be around 50 min each way .. bus + subway. Tldr.. why not live in Secaucus and save city tax .. over living in Queens / Brooklyn. TC 240
Brooklyn/ Queens 100%. You can find a new construction apartment with in-unit W/D with the same commute time for the same price, with much better restaurants, diversity, nightlife, and culture. Re: addtl expense, you get what you pay for.
Queens.
I did a 6-month project in Secaucus in 1997, commuting from Manhattan. It’s amazing how a town so close to Manhattan can be so... nothing. Maybe it’s changed since then, but my memory of it is having lunch at a mall. The food options were so bad I’d sometimes bring my lunch. The thought of living there when NYC is just across the river dumbfounds me. To each his own, but you’ll only be in your 20s once. You will very unlikely look back later at the special life you had once created for yourself in Secaucus. But somebody’s gotta live there, so do it — because we don’t need rent to get higher in the boroughs.
Secaucus, faster to reach Manhattan than many parts of Queens and Brooklyn. Yea the towb doesn’t have lot to have fun. But it has lot of open space and ao many parks. For fun you drive or go to city

Tipping culture is really getting out of control! Waiter gave me ‘a look’ because I tipped her 10% for ‘BAD service!’
Because there’s nothing in Secaucus. It’s literally a swamp with a train station in the middle of nowhere.
