Security engineer is such a broad title, am seeing job descriptions that range in responsibility and seniority. In your opinion are there elements of a job description for this role that can be seen as a red flag? I am partocularly concerend with job descriptions that imply shit tasks with low career growth.
Cissp requirement? The security field is big. Unfortunately most of the guys I met didn't understand the basics. Then we wonder why we have so many data leaks.
What are the basics? So I can study them
Depends on which field. But of you want to be good (not LinkedIn "security expert") you need to know everything. Most of the pentesters for example just use tools like metasploit. What you need is deep knowledge in multiple fields: networking, Linux, kernel, software dev especially for the application security engineers etc. A good advice is to check job offers in tech companies and see what are the requirements
